Document Family

A family relationship is formed among two or more documents that have a connection or relatedness because of some factor.

Examples for document families are:

• Emails and their attachments
• The main document and embedded items within PDF, Office documents, and other document type

Family considerations form a core component of eDiscovery and document disclosure, and can be particularly tricky when it comes to document privilege and redactions.
